DAY 1: CUSCO – CALCA – MAUCAU — QUISHUARANI:
We’re going to pick you up from your hotel at 5:00 am and drive for 01 hour until arrive in Calca town where We’ll stop in order to buy something that you can forget for our hike then we just keep going until arrive at Ancashmarca Inka site where you will have breakfast enjoying the nice view in the background with this archaeological site. After that, we continue in our car for 40 minutes to Macau (old village 3500 m / 11820 ft) from where we’re going to start our trek. Our staff will provide us the snack and you’ll get ready for the hike. There are some country houses at the trailhead and even we’ll pass through this building. The first 04 hours before we reach for our lunch spot, the trail is gonna be gradually up and down. In those hours that we’ll hike is possible to see and enjoy amazing views with baby llamas and sexy alpacas on the way. but, at the same time, we’re going to find and passing through the famous PUYA RAIMONDI, also known as “the plant of one flower in one hundred years”. This is the few places in all Peru where you can find this plant in order to see this largest species of bromeliad. However, we think this is the few of many other things that we can find on the hike. Quiswarani is andean Village where we’ll have lunch and remember this is your vacations for that reason you will have 15 minutes for taking a rest. then we are keep walking for another 2 more hours of course slowly until arrive to our campsite in remember that we will enjoy the amazing views of the lake known as a Yanacocha ( black lake 3850 m / 12631 ft), Along the way is possible to find a beautiful waterfall with 8 fountains and at the same time is possible to see how the people back home after they worked already in their farming lands or care their animals in the mountains. Finally when you arrive at the campsite as a reward you will be received with your tents up already and hot drinks with something to eat in the happy hour that we are going to have in this place and then would introduce our team by our guides in order to know each other on the way as a great friends but before going to sleep we will enjoy our buffet dinner and short briefing for the following day with the details that you should need to know for it.
DAY 2: QUISWARANI – CONDOR PASS – CANCHA CANCHA VILLAGE:
This morning you will be awakened by your porters with our special service organized just for you of hot drinks in your tents around 5:30 am. and it consists of a coca tea. This is the best way to be awakened. However, before enjoy our big and delicious breakfast cooked by our chef and because we need to have a energy for the hike. after or before to eat your meal is possible to find the amazing view of the lake with different types of birds in the lake. We’re going to start the trek as soon as you finish packing your gear, used the toilet, fill up your bottles with a boiled water and pick up your snacks. the highest pass is located just 3 hours climbing up until getting to the summit of the mountain, this pass is known as “Dead Man Pass”. This way up is gonna be a little hard. if you focus on the path and just walk slowly you will be at the top as soon you never thought. just you need to walk in zigzag the uphill. It is one of the best experiences that you are going to have in your life just because you’ll passing through waterfalls, llamas, and alpacas. However, if you feel altitude problems or tired in the way up you have the chance to ride our emergency horse until the highest point because remember after that is basically downhill. Once you arrive at the “Condor pass” is possible to see the different valleys located in this regions and we’ll do a ceremony in order to say thanks to the mother earth but at the same time we will find the most Sacred and Beautiful mountain in the sacred Valley know a “Pitusiray”.(5 700m/ 18 700ft). after enjoy our snack with nice mountain surrounding us and did the ceremony for the Pachamama we’ll start our descent is possible to keep seeing a more lakes located just right there with birds around the lake. roughly after 2 hours walking down you will be there for a big and fantastic lunch that our chef is gonna cook for us and after lunch, we’ll have 15 minutes for taking a rest. However, after lunch, we have to keep walking to our campsite that is located just 1 hour and 30 minutes away from there. I the way down we’re going to find for sure baby llamas and sexy alpacas before arriving at your campsite – the village of Cancha Cancha which is the only Community that does not have the introduction of new technology. Cancha Cancha is a village (3 750m / 12 303ft) and it’s gonna sound crazy but the Inca blood is still here. even is possible to see and practice the real traditions of the Incas. This Incan village, 85% of the houses are the original ancient construction, made of stone with grass-thatched roofs and all this technology coming from the Incas knowledge. Just remember that this is your vacations for you and the unique thing that you have to do is enjoy the landscape and everything that of course your tour guide is gonna show you. Because for this company is really important to support the andean people and as much communities as can we are going to visit one family and learn more about this people that are friendly and incredible. Hot drinks and Pop Corn are gonna waiting for you of course and your tents up already. Then after nice chatting in the happy hour is time to enjoy a big and delicious dinner of course before going to sleep your mountain guide can explain you about astronomy of course if you are not so much tired. But, at the same time, your guide is gonna give a short briefing for the following day “sleep as a baby guinea pig”.
DAY 3: CANCHA CANCHA – HUARAN – OLLANTAYTAMBO – AGUAS CALIENTES:
We are going to wake you up with a cup of hot drink at your bedside, you will have time to organize your belongings while your chef is cooking for you a delicious breakfast, and get to take in the lush green mountains that surround you. After breakfast you’ll still have some time to explore the village and maybe visit the local elementary school – where the kids learn in the ancient Inca language, Quechua, is still taught. Once you are ready, We’ll begin the last part of the Lares trek. Say “Goodbye!” to native villages and your introduction to this fascinating civilization. It will be 04 hours of walking downhill along this lovely trail, passing by more llamas, alpacas, donkeys, sheep, and cows. these animals are part of the main economy of these villagers. We’ll pass by farming lands where they cultivate potatoes, fava beans, peach, and many other traditional tubers, This is a great opportunity to learn about Peruvian agriculture where people still farm by hand using traditional Inca farming tools. However, also you can see farming with the bull. Now we will start to descend to the warmer area, The Sacred Valley, and you can begin to feel the microclimate changes and start seeing other kinds of crops that people farm, different from in the high mountains. Around the Sacred Valley people farm corn, quinoa, kiwicha, peaches, avocados and other types of fruits. Of course, this area is also a perfect area to learn about Inca history. You will end the tour at the little village of Huaran in the Sacred Valley at 2700m/ 8858 ft where you will say goodbye to your horses, horsemen, chef, and porters as they will be going back to their villages as our staff will return to Cusco. From Huaran town we will catch a car and drive a short distance into the Sacred Valley to Ollantaytambo. Ollantaytambo is a magnificent intact living Inca village, the only one, and still has many Inca water channels, houses, and walls. Your guide will take you around to view this small town until dinner time which will be at a local restaurant. We’ll then catch the 07:00 pm train to Aguas Calientes, the Machu Picchu Town. Upon your arrival to Aguas Calientes, you will check-in to your hotel (with private rooms and at last you will enjoy a hot shower)
DAY 4: AGUAS CALIENTES — MACHU PICCHU — CUSCO CITY.
We have to wake up very early in the morning of the five day in order to see the sunrise in Machupicchu (if the weather allows) We’ll start with breakfast at the hotel and then head to the bus that will take us to Machupicchu archaeological site. just after getting into Machupicchu we’re going to good spot to a take a amazing and unforgettable pictures for your Facebook profile. Afterward, your guide is gonna explain you for 2 hours tour in all Machupicchu site and if you want to visit the place by yourself the guides are gonna explain you at that moment. but, before your tour guide will provide your bus ticket for Aguas Calientes town from where you´re going to meet with your tour guide where he is gonna give you tren tickets and explain how to take the train in order to back to Cusco. If you´d like you to have the chance to climb up to Huayna Picchu Mountain that takes around 50 minutes to wreathe summit. From this please you can see Machu Picchu and you will feel as you never did from this, please. But if you want to hike to this mountain just let us know in advance (cost for it US$ 20 dollars extra).
Altitude Sickness
It’s common to start to wondering about altitude sickness if you thinking to come to Peru, especially in Cusco. however, It’s easy to figure out this problem. You just need to spend a few days in Cusco drinking plenty of water and coca tea.
This is the High Altitude Symptom
headache, tiredness, dizziness, nausea, tingling, loss of appetite, trouble sleeping, vomiting. Please, If you feel any of this problem contact our company or call a doctor in order to help you. but, this symptom usually is gonna be temporal just you need to drink plenty of water and coca tea. However, some times our customer prefers pills and in that way, we suggest you have an (acetazolamide or dexamethasone) and come a few days before to Cusco.
Weather
In general, the weather here in the andes is unpredictable and that is the way why we suggest to our customers have to be ready for a rainy or sunny day. although, if you have waterproof clothes for sure it’s gonna helping us so much.
First Aid Kit
All of Our mountain guides have their first aid kits and a lot of training in first aid in the mountains and every year they received classes of doctor with the most frequent problems as a (diarrhea, cuts, headache, scrapes,etc.) at the same time they have an oxygen tank in order to help you to feel much better. However, It’s fine if you thinking to bring your own first aid kit for the trek.
Travel Insurance
Always is gonna be a good idea to have travel insurance for your tour or trek and more if you thinking to travel for a few weeks or more of one month. Although, for sure you need to have one if you have any serious illness just in case if something happens.
