We pick you up from your lodging at 3:30 a.m. to start our fun day trip. We’ll drive to Ocongate first, where we’ll pause for a delicious breakfast and take in the early-morning light casting on the mountains. This is a fantastic chance to take some priceless pictures.
When we’re full, we’ll continue traveling to mollepata (3,900 m / 12,769 ft), where you’ll start to sense the glaciers’ strong presence. Their eerie, wintry looks will undoubtedly leave an impression on you as they resist all evil and power. Your guide will give us a few quick instructions before we start our two-hour climb to Humantay Lake.
Keeping in mind that your hike will take you across rocky and uneven terrain, it’s a good idea to use a walking stick. You should take it easy because you will be at a high altitude. Take your time, walk gently, rest, and drink lots of water. Never leave your litter on the path and please refrain from carrying plastic on the journey.
Your hike uphill will be rewarded with the most amazing experience. Gradually, the breathtaking Humantay Lakes will come into view. Nestled amidst rugged terrain created by the melting snow covering the Salkantay Glacier is this stunning turquoise lake. For even greater views, go around the lake or hike up the steep hills a little. The sea will appear more turquoise the higher you get, and you’ll be able to see the most breathtaking panoramic views.
You will probably see why the mountains are so revered in Andean culture after experiencing what it’s like to be so close to them. Using coca leaves, our guide will thank nature in a brief ritual.
It will take around one and a half hours to return to Soraypampa. After a delectable lunch that our chef has prepared, you’ll board our transportation to return to Cusco. We will get you to your lodging at around 6:30 p.m.
